i agree with jim here. and i'd also like to add that i have no secret bait....NUTHIN I USE SEEMS TO WORK, HAHAHAHA. that is the reason i am on this site. TO LEARN FROM OTHERS!!! and i am not like other anglers...if i know what I am catching them on and WHERE, i will tell you. some of you already know that, lmao. so sorry, no "secret" bait or location from me. i tell all. hahahaha. and if you listen to me, you'll probably do better than me (i hope), right bb and kingfish? they'll tell ya. they pout fished me and i am SOOO GLAD they did. that is what i believe we are here for. just my opion gang.

I am going to send Fishnngolfn a picture of a modification I do to one of my baits.

(I have more mods.)

It is a common and very well known bait.

Why it's not better known and used is beyond me.

I learned about it many years ago while fishing as an observer in the Hungry fisherman tourneys.

It has caught me many big fish over the last 15 or so years and is still going strong.

If you make one of these mods and use it, you will soon see it works when nothing else will.........for many reasons I will explain later IF you want me too.

The key with this bait as with all baits is confidence.

I'm still waiting, and this thread has still proved to be pointless...

[sarcasm] Shocker...[/sarcasm]

I'll explain in detail if needed in this post with edits........

I want you to see the pic/drawing before I explain how to mod. it and everything else.........this is so exciting.

I get nervous when I fish this thing because it works so well.............

And don't make fun of my drawing.........LOL

OK, hope you all like it..........it's a real fish catcher I promise.

1- use triple wing metal blade....last longer, lifts easier.

2-cut old buzzer lead head off with side cutters, get down to buzzer wire connection, separate carefully and do not over bend wire because you will be closing it back down on a "CORDELL RATL SPOT"......no other bait works as good.

3- attach cordell 1/2 oz. to buzzer wire after opening and removing old hook.

4- secure wire bend with needle nose.

5-tune bait by bending top wire that wings are on by bending at arrow in front of wings.

6-tune bottom wire by bending in a slight curve to allow for "tail wiggle" of cordell.......if bottom wire is not bent down the cordells rear hooks will sometimes touch rear of wings/blade.

This is a very simple mod...........and yes I have colorado spinner baits that I use this mod. on too. I will explain how it works later.

You want this bait to jump UP on top as soon as it hits........strikes are different with this bait because the fish feels safer to come up under it and hit it.

It is not an explosive out of water hit.........but a "KERCHUNK" type hit when the fish jerks it under water because it rarely missed because of the trebles.

Slow or fast retreives........either works.

You must retie often.......you must use at least 12 to 14 lb test........flourescent line is good because it will be on top and you can see it well......or some of the newer glow type line.

Braid would work.

One of my techniques...........trolling motor on high 24 volt and I use a high speed reel on a stiff pistol grip rod.........stand on front of boat and under hand short cast to the bank every 6 or 8 ft........short cast to key points.......keep it moving.

Accross brush piles........you better hang on.

I think the fish think this is a smaller shad or BG chasing a creature on top which creates a new situation for the bass..........he thinks he is sneaking up on a fish that is chasing something on top.

I have used this bait for many, many years and seen some weird stuff happen.

I have brought large small mouth up from DEEP concrete piers/pilings in deep channels,.........after throwing 20 times or more on the same side.

I promise if you tie one of these on.......and use it, you will catch many fish on it.

Colors ?

I have many made up but SILVER/CHROME blue or WHITE with black back seems to work like no other.

I have pics of lots of big fish hanging on digital scales of 5+ that I caught using this bait.

The key here is the buzzer churns the water on top and the rattler makes a loud noise under water and shakes from side to side.

Many years ago we tested this in a pool and found the cordell rattles loudest with less pull from the user. (thi plug used to be a bomber lure many years ago, used to be called bomber Ratl -R.)

I think I will keep this one to myself.

Just kidding. Here is the pic with Robbie's consent. It is a modified buzzbait. It looks like you take a lipless crankbait and attach it to a buzzbait some how. Maybe cut off the original skitted head and use something to bend the wire into a circle and attach the crankbait. Robbie can tell everyone how he does it. I will definitely try it this weekend, once Robbie tells us how he fishes it.

I bet this can work with a spinner too.

Hey Robbie. Can you email me an actual picture of one that you have modified? I can post that if you like and others will likely get a better idea. And it would also answer several questions as well. You can send it to me anytime you have it ready.

Please let me know what you think of this ?

Sorry, I have no way to take pics.......the drawing is exactly what it looks like just follow directions and I will help all I can.........a simple mod.

http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/st..._SearchResults

Please read above post for more explaining of how this works.........feel free to email me for more info.

This is a total top water bait just like a buzzer except it rattles under water and wiggles........

Is everyone clear on how to make it and how it works ?

Don't cut.........just use side cutters to trim lead away until you get down to the factory connection where the buzzer wire is connected to the factory hook.

You can't see any of this because it's covered with lead.

Don't cut it so you don't shorten the wire.

Once you get to the connection, gently pry the wire open.......slip the hook out and connect the cordell by the split ring and gently close buzzer wire.

Then last, tune by bending according to arrows on drawing........this is simple and you have one goal........to get this bait to rise to the top VERY quickly...........this is accomplished by bending the top wire that buzzer wings are on.

You won't waste $ if you follow the instructions........and take your time.

One comment........rattle traps do not work well with this rig........we tried to use them for years but they do not wiggle like cordell does.

I once caught 2, 5 pound large mouth in less than 2 ft of yellow muddy water, about 20 feet apart........ in mid august.....water temps were high 80s and outside was mid 90s.....using this exact bait.
