Dropshot Weights
Why use a sinker when you could use a jig and trailer, tube, or other texas-rigged plastic? I'm sure many of you have thought of this, but I thought I should bring it up for those who haven't.

it sounds like it would make sense..but if your using light line and have to set the hook you might break your line.Using heavy line and bigger tackle could be the ticket.I've heard of people using a jig instead of a weight in a Carolina Rig with decent results.

I know people who have done that with some success though I haven't tried it personally.
I guess the reason I won't yet is because I've yet to learn the P-n-J technique and until recently didn't even have jigs in my arsenal yet (I'm relatively new to bassin') Being that I am on a very tight budget, I would be inclined to use a DS weight over a jig in only because I would rather lose a cheap lead weight than a nice jig and trailer in a snag.

They call it a Bubba Rig. A jig-n-pig seems to be the most popular weight to use.

I knew I couldn't be the first to think of it! I'm gonna' try it with a tube, with the sinker stuffed inside it. I figure it will speed up the process of finding the right color and depth to fish.
