Default Need A Reel...

I need a reel. Not just any reel, a baitcaster that will fling things such as: Senko's, light 1/8-1/4-ounce jigs, 1/4-1/2-ounce drop-shots, and 1/4-1/2 ounce shakey heads. This reel will be mounted on a St. Croix Legend Tournament Bass 'Teaser' Rod. This rod is 7', with a medium power and a fast action.

Any ideas?

BuZZZZZZZZZZZZ(wing),

There are several excellent choices out there, and none need cost an arm and/or a leg. Here are two:
Daiwa 153HSTA
Cabela's REVO SC, This one comes in 7:1 only, and that will make it not only well-suited to the uses you list, but great for Toads, BuZZZZZZZZZZZZ(wing)baits, Lipless Cranks, etc. as well. The higher retrieve can aid you in snatching a jig-biter out of cover before he can gather his somewhat dim wits and wrap you up. Besides, it's a pretty deep-red color.
Both these reels weigh less than nine ounces and both have very effective anti-backlash controls.
There are others, as I'm certain others here will mention, but you needn't spend 200.00(US) or more to obtain a very suitable reel.

buzzie, I see you're adding to that collections again....

Jools, I've heard they're overrated. Get a spinning reel dude. It'll fling anything lighter than a fly.

Whom?
Yeah, BuZZZZZZZZZ(wing), pick up the convenient 6-pack of Steezes (Steezi?) while you're at it. Maybe you'll get a volume discount If you do, send me one of them for suggesting that.
450.00(US) for a reel? Ha!

Buzz,

A 5" senko weighs nearly 1/2 ounce buy itself even without the hook (about 3/8 oz). Any BC reel worth its weight should toss a senko a country mile. I get a checkle when people say they can toss a weightless senko into the next zip code, because they should. They're not light at all.

Since you didn't mention a budget, any Shimano reel from the Cruxis on up will easily with one hand tied behind your back will handle all of the applications you mentioned. If you use RH reels, I think tacklewarehouse has the 200 size for $85, which is less than having bought it at full retail with the rebate.

I would opt for the 100 size if the reel will be solely used for bass fishing. It weighs about 7.4 oz in the 100 size.

If you can afford a Steez or a Core or Chronarch Mg, you would likely have a sub 10 oz and heavenly fishing rig that would probably float if you dropped it in the drink.

buzz, i can throw a weightless trickworm a long ways with no backlash at all on my revo's. might look into them as they are a great reel. have them on jig rods, my flippn stick and rods that i do a lot of different things with and they work well for everything i have ever thrown.

Thanks a lot guys, it helps...

Anyway, here is a breakdown of the exact things I'm going to be using it for.

Light Jigs- Bender showed me this technique last Sunday and he slayed 'em, hope I can too. . Anyway, it consists of a light, 1/16-1/4-ounce PNJ flipped on top of weed mats and dragged across the top, intermittentley dropping in some holes. I also plan to use this with a Senko, Dinger, or frog. I would use my 7'6'' ML Croix, but 8-pound fluoro doesn't like weeds as thick as my boat too well.

Shakey Heads- Simple enough, 1/4-1/2-ounce shakey heads. My 7'6'' ML is too light for these heavy of baits, especially when you add a plastic to the equation.

Drop-Shots- Again, 1/4-1/2-ounce Drop-shots. Again, my 7'6'' ML is too light, especially when adding a plastic.

Senkos- Do I need to explain?

Oh, I plan to use about 15-20-pound braid, with/without leader, depending on technique.

Does this change anyones ideas?3

I would go for something like http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/st...001000_100-1-1

since it is a budjet reel, i would recomend picking up 2 and putting one on a 6 1/2 ft st croix legend supreme max pro tournament angler rod (make sure rod has titanium nitride eyes to handle the heavy braid.)

I still say you can't go wrong with a spinning reel. And why are using the same rod for finesse techniques and frogs? just wonderin.

I'm not, Big, I may just toss them over the mats every now and again. For frogs I use my Flippin' Stick.

Doc has a point though. Maybe you sneak a couple of them into the 6 pack of Steezi. so you get 4 Steezi and 2 Calaises.

And that's what I though, since you do have a frog rod, right?

Who put the stick up your ***, huh, Doc? If you're so concerned with my tackle, why don't you just come out and say it instead of writing in that sarcastic bullcrap?

Actually in this post http://www.bassfishin.com/bassfishin...light=frog+rod

You refrence "After beginning to think about how I want my new Frog Stik to be picture-perfect, I have decided on the rod, a St.Croix Legend Tournament Bass "Slop-N-Frog", almost decided on the reel and are speechless on the line."

A frog rod exclusivly. Sorry to seem if Im picking on you but come on dude STOP IT. Even if you didn't buy the damn frog rod, and opted for a kvd special edition drop shot rod, or whatever. Every week its the same ****, and if someone calls you out on it you skip a week. Every time you make a post Im going to link the most expensive **** I can find on the internet, and spew forth regurgitated facts to back up my expensive options.
