Just remember, if you'll be spooling up with a high lb mono like 20lb, then a round reel MAY be a better choice. I don't fish anything over 6" and usually use like 15lb test, so I'm fine throwing them on a LP.

I guess I should have taken into consideration that you were talking about the big 8-10" baits. Cass definitely knows what he's talking about, so you may want to listen to him over me.

I was actually going to spool with 50lb Power Pro braid.

I wouldn't recommend braid if you plan to throw any big baits.

East Tennessee is a lot like North Georgia with the forage base. Check these out, they are made by a buddy of mine down here that is also a guide for Spotted Bass on Lake Allatoona, Carters Lake and Lake Lanier.

I don't own one because I'm cheap and can't imagine paying the money for some of these swimbaits only to get one hung up or lost! I do know several guys, including the guy that builds them and they do catch fish!! Mike caught 11 or 12 just last Friday during that last cold fron that was blowing through.

Those things look great, but I won't pay $50 for a bait either. The $20 Spros are my max.

My buddy has one of these Matt Lures, and I have my sights set to purchase under the radar. I haven't seen it attacked, but I have seen the pictures of some of the victims I reckon I get free shipping for 1 lure. That's not too bad, is it? hahahahaha

My buddy is a swimbait finatic. He will buy a $100 bait just to strip it and have it repainted. It is like 4 bait monkeys at once.

anyone have experience with 3:16 swim baits? expensive as all hell but looks very well build & realistic
My buddy has 6 or 7 of these and they all produce. He thins out his others by selling them to replace with the 3:16. They are his favorite by far.B ut like you said, quite expensive. Not to take anything away from this board, but you will get a lot of info from swimbaitnation.com , a forum dedicated to SB fans.
