mono or braid depends on the fishing conditions but those are my choices

10-14 pound mono.

10 pound mono. The stretch helps when that 11 pounder drops on your buzzer. Feels like you got hit in the wrist.

20lbs braid. I'd rather not use mono as the stretch makes it harder to get the lure through the thick stiff. Something like power pro will allow you to keep the buzzbait going smoothly. Its hard to explain but it somewhat enhances the qualities of a fast tip rod.
