Bassmaster became affiliated with ESPN, which in turn sought out anglers to create obnoxious personalities so they can hype tournaments like they hype NFL bad-boys.

I have almost stopped paying attention to the tournaments myself. I just dont like a lot of the guys participating.

Its to bad because the boy can fish.Remember when he broke the stern light off the boat and the flag attached went into the lake ? You'd think the boy would learn ?

It is to bad that these guys fish for the money and the publicity instead of the sport of fishing.. Not saying all of theses guys are doing this but most are!!!

When an open tournament was on Smith Mountain Lake in Va. a few yrs. ago we got to talk to Ike for a while, he's a great guy. If you ever get to meet him you will like him. We were at a siminar in Richmond Va. and after it was over he was waiting for a taxi and a kid starting having a seizure he sprung into action like a paramedic and worked with him until help arrived knowing he was going to miss his plane. He really is a good guy.

I agree, I don't really pay attention to the pros on tv too much. The ones I have met and fished with around here are like any other guys. Some real good guys, some a bit aloof. Pretty much the same as any group of people.

ike is a wierd s.o.b. but he is a fish catching machine. i have never met him in person but i know several people who have and they all agree that he is not like that off camera which probably means it is just a marketing tool, and it works because when you see a guy screaming his head off because he caught a fish you automatically think of Mike Iaconelli.

pnj, man did he have a melt down or what? that was way overboard and the funny thing was that he was upset because he had to run a triton in the classic instead of his personal boat and said that the aerator in the boat didn't work. then come to find out it wasn't the aerator it was opperator error. but since then, after a lot of his sponsors pulled the plug on him (which i can't blame them at all) he still screams and acts kinda like an idiot but he hasn't made anymore mistakes like that........that i know of.
