Default new baits & new techniques this season

year after year i mainly use plastics ,(worms, lizards ect) & spinner baits. this year im really into using Crank baits & jigs. ive always kept at least 1 of each in my tackle box just never ever used them. partly because i wasnt really sure how to use them or i was afraid of getting them snagged Again, and losing it altogether. i always hear people talking about ratl traps and other style crank baits and how effective they are (along with jigs as well.) so i figured that i should probably start learning to use these other baits & techniques.
after watching umpteen video clips on YouTube pertaining on how to fish these style baits, im pretty confident in my presentations. now i just cant wait to catch one. the anticipation is freakin killing me! the first one is definitely the hardest one.

Good luck with your efforts to expand your lure techniques. Some times a certain technique take a while to get the hand of it, but once you do, your hooked. That was the way it was for me last year with buzzbaits. Never did well at all with them untill last year, when I really started tearing them up on buzzers. It's a real high to develope something new.

right after my post i decided to go out again, and throw a crank bait for a bit and finally got me a small largemouth on a Rapala DT3 (chartreuse w/brown back). didnt even care if it was only 8 or 9 " I finally got one on a crank, now to get one on a Lipless crank. definitely stoked though, thats for sure...

I would like to suggest to you that instead of fishing with a Jig to fish with a Jika rig and use Sweet Beavers, Kinky Beavers and Tubes. Now, this is coming from someone who has Made Custom Jigs for a long time now and sold them for years (I only make them for friends and family these days).

I swear, I don't know if I'll tie on a Jig again after seeing the action the Jika Rig gives a piece of plastic.
