I throw a pointer more than anything, with a Sammy a close second. American shad, Ghost Minnow, or Aurora Blue are the ones I use most.

If you are fishing out of a boat get some 1-2 oz. bell or disk sinkers and some cross lock snaps. Clip the snap to the sinker then clip the sinker to your line. Drop it down then pop it a few times and the lure should pull free. I've saved a bunch of lures that way.

i also throw pointers a lot it's funny because table rock shad is my favorite color on table rock. go a few hours north and on stockton more basic shad colors work better. i also have several sammy's and r.c. series crankbaits. one tip that is very helpful when fishing a crankbait. if you get hung on a tree limb or stump ect. but didn't set the hook try this. mash the line against the rod right above the reel with your thumb. take your free hand and pull the line tight above your rod tip, the release it (like a giant guitar string for lack of a better explaination). sometimes it takes several attempts for the bait to come loose but eventually the boyouncy (sp?) of the bait will cause it to come loose (even on suspending models). have saved a ton of baits doing this. if this fails then go to the plug knocker like reb said. i was fishing a club tourney last summer as a co-angler. my boater hung a r.c. series crankbait and went swimming to get it back (be extremley careful if you do this) he never got it back but it kept me laughing all day.

I picked up a new 18' aluminum extension pole. Allows me to get them out of the trees too. Just got to be careful of the power lines !!!!

Plug knocker can also save you some $$$ too. Pretty cheap at 6-10$.

Speaking of knockers.......Zook, you get a snow day or something??? I got done at 12:15 myself and have to head home in the snow/sleet/ice crap. Took me an hour to get here and then they send me home.

i love the rick clunn's by lucky craft 1.5 and 2.5 i'd probably have to label my confidence bait... As far as a plug knocker, basically you only have to save one crank once for it to pay for itself twice... definately worth it

Don't reckon I've ever seen that much snow down here in the south!
I believe we'll just punt that idea back up above the Mason-Dixon line! LOL

Hey guys, there is a great thread about plug knockers adjacent to this one. Pretty darn cheap plug knockers too!

My question is how many of you think those baits are worth the $20? How many think they're overpriced?? I've never owned one.

Ah yes-the requisite trip to the grocery store when bad weather if forecast-even when you don't need anything. I think the legislature passed that into law a few years back

There are many good baits out there, but if you want top quality then you're gonna have to pay more. you do get what you pay for.

Why do we need the famous "bread & milk". Seems thats the most popular item when it snows.

I might splurge and try the Real-Skin Pointer this Spring.
