Default Another frog question

Trying to get up to speed with this frog fishing. Do any of you use smelly jelly or pam spray ,so the frog slides over the lily pads and slop ?The scumfrog sometimes sort of sticks to the lily pads.Christmas came early, I got more than enough frogs to fool with .Ivan

I think the newer versions like the horney toad slide over the mat just fine, as long as the hook eyelet is not exposed..you can put a bead on your line to help go through the trash pnj

The only hard body frog i fish is the SPRO Bronzeye, and i feel it is not necessary with them, IMHO... Also, i think that KVD Line and Lure conditioner might work better at letting it slide through the pads and other "stuff". But hey if it gives you confidence go for it...

I've found that the ease at which the frog comes through cover (pads, etc), has more to do with the shape of the frog than with the material. For instance, the Spro Bronzeye is by far the most weedless when it comes to pads. It's deep keel brings the bait up and over the leaves, unlike many flatter type frogs (snag proof/swamp donkey/furbit/etc) that are flatter and have less keel. The flatter keeled frogs tend to want to dig. The Bronzeye likes to stay above better.

Jack's Juice spray works well on the frogs too.

Ran down to the new BPS north of Richmond this weekend. Picked up a couple packs of my favorite color Zoom toads....got the last two packs they had! Tough color to find around here so I'm happy I found them.

Definitely. Just make sure you use a light weight rattle or it makes your frog sit a little cock-eyed in the water. The best way is to cut open your frog and glue the rattle on the upper center of the back.

I was never able to get the rattle to not affect the action of the baits. I started super glueing rattles to beads. I sand a flatter edge on one side of the bead and then attach the rattle. I do lose rattles to the junk piles from time to time, but this technique has worked well for me. For larger rattles, I will attach them to two beads
I have been using this technigue to add rattles to a lot of my baits.

I just apply a little lube (your favorite fish attractant) then give my spro a rattle supository. If you use lightweight rattles
http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/descpage-EXWRAT.html

It doesn't affect the baits action, plus they are retrieveable to use in another bait.
