Default new boat w/ mercury verado motor

my dad just bought a 19 foot checkmate ski-boat. needs clean up and new upholstry but otherwise good shape. since my dad works at a mercury factory he gets to get a motor for the boat for free as long as he is employed there. He said he is getting us a 200 horse mercury verado!!!! I was just wondering if anyone else has this motor or has been in a boat with one and if you liked it. i know it is supposed to be a great motor but i wanted to hear it from someone else. We'll be getting out fishing quite a few times this year

I am not familiar with the Verados I hear they are quiet and dependable I am sure your dad has the best knoledge of these products and he would not get a motor he was not sure about I would like to hear more about it and why he chose this one just for my own information

he said he could have chosen from a few different motors but he was stuck between the opti max and the verado....he said the verado is quieter but doesnt get quite as good of mileage....also, the verado has this fancy digital shifting and is supposed to be really nice....i can prolly get you the mercury site that u could look at the specs of the motor...in the end i think he chose the verado because it is the newest one out there...at least im assuming thats why
