Where in north alabama?

There is always wheeler and guntersville dams, you can catch stripe, skipjack, bass, sauger you name it. Its a little cool now to start wading, but thats what I normally do in summer (check the flint river at winchester road or oscar patterson road for example).

Sure. Thats not my territory per se, but from what I know of the area its not a bad place to be a bank fisherman. If I were stuck without a boat I would concentrate on the causeways, the big one crosses over browns creek, but you also have one at spring creek, town creek (at the state park, southeast of scottsboro), mink creek, south sauty creek, I think mud creek has a little one where 72 crosses.

The way causeways are made, you have earthen windbreakers which span a creek, with a little openings where there is a bridge so that boaters can go up a creek and the water can flow out of the creek. These openings underneath the bridges almost always have current flowing because:

a.) the wind is blowing water through the gap

b.)lots of rain means the creek current is flowing through the gap, or

c.) if they lower or raise the water at the dam this change in water levels between the main lake and the creek will result in a change of current at the gap.

There is also always riprap along these areas to prevent erosion. All these factors come together to concentrate fish of all types in that little area. Lots of bank anglers will park on the side of the road and fish these areas with normally live minnows, but sometimes also tailspinners, spinnerbaits, crankbaits, small jerkbaits you get the idea. The main thing is with these places you are getting a high percentage area, which in bank fishing is what you need cause just walking down a normal bank casting is a hit or miss strategy.

I hope this helps some.
