Default Ranger

Hey guys, I'm looking for opinions on a Ranger. Specifically a 2004 185vs. The one I'm looking to purchase has a 175hp Optimax and I know that it's been well cared for...the problem..I've never ridden/driven one

It's got older electronics which will need to be upgraded, but it's got a brand new 80lb digital fortrex TM...and all the storage is LED lighted..the best part...12k cash and it will be in my garage! I was hoping to hold off for a while instead of purchasing, but this is a great deal and I know that it won't last a week if he puts it online for $13,500 which is going to be his asking price.

Any opinions or recommendations would be great! Thanks

I've rode in the 188 and it was a good experience, we were on the Potomac river in a tournament, we had wind/ whitecaps and it was a nice ride and good fishing platform. bigbasser

Great fishing platform, I think the 188 has the "built in jackplate" type hull. Cuts down a little on the rear deck room, but works. That would be my choice if I didn't own a stratos.

I have a 2004 185 Vs, and it's a great boat.

Mine is equiped with a Yamaha 175hpdi.

The price you are talking about is a steal. I paid a bit more for mine a year ago.

Nice riding boat. Can't go wrong.

My boat also had older electronics. I put in and 898 SI and a 788 up front. Linked the two together with the Humminbird interlink.

I used to have 2001 185 vs. Nice little boats. Sometimes, I wish I wouldn't have gone bigger. They can get airborne very easily. I recommend a strap to tie down the trolling motor. I only had a 150 on the back. You can always switchout the electronics if ya don't like them.
