I'm beginning my "fall" fishing this weekend and Ill try the Chatterbait in the evening like some of the advice give. Hope this SOB produces at least one strike or it might be going to the bottom of the lake.

I have tried the Chatterbait again this year. 8 hours one day. No luck. Switched to a plastic worm...6 casts and 3 fish. The Chatterbait is a POS.

Wow, you plan to try it in a tournament? that sounds a little risky to me. Maby you have previous experience and I just missed the point?

you cant be serious , it has its time just like EVERY other bait. Nothing works 100% of the time.

Chatterbaits can be very productive. I've caught good bags on them in muddy water. I use the original chatterbait in chart/white and black/blue. I always sharpen the hooks out of the package. I also cut the skirt down and trim the stock trailer down a bit out of the package, which helped me land more fish.

the few times i used it i fished down a bank(from a boat) when i got to a tree, id pitch it up next to the tree and fish it like a jig...and when i got between trees or next to grass i would fish it like a spinnerbait...its nice not too have to switch rods every other casts.

I doubted them too. But when a friend, who wins a lot of money fishing the river, said I needed to try the one I now use I laughed at him. He was selling them at a show and I joked that he was just trying to sell me a bait. He turned, tilted his head, and said "No, you really need to throw one of these." Sometimes I may be a little slow but I ain't no dummy. Ever since I've been whacking fish on them. Have they replaced my spinnerbaits? Or crankbaits? No but they have given me another reason to buy another rod and reel and give in to the BM!

CMorg - check out this site http://www.shakerbait.com/ and you'll find the baits I throw. Currently I've added a Bass Assassin bait as a trailer. I think it's one of their salt water swim baits. Don't have a clue as to the name. Seems to work really well and if it ain't broke I'm not touching it!
I'm not sponsored or I don't sell these baits but I do recommend baits that work for me.

ChatterBaits the "actual" brand I've never had good luck with, and in my opinion are built a little cheap. I do however "LOVE" a bait that is basically the same type of bait... called the Vibra Jig.

This is a pic of a 4.5lb LM I caught last week... sorry for the pic, as I took it w/ my cell phone and I couldn't fit him into the pic.

As far as fishing them, I use a steady but slow retreive but enough to make sure I feel the vibration working in the bait.

Now you're just bragging...LOL
Nice fish, though. Big and healthy.

I've got a couple chatterbaits that my wife bought at Christmas for "stocking stuffers," but I've never tried them yet. I might have to break them out at Kentucky to see if they work for me.

HAHA!! You'll have to try them for sure! I have seen them produce big numbers for other folks as well in tourneys. I use a pumpkin green, 3/8 ounce w/ a black split tail trailer, w/ a regular sized gold blade, w/ rattles.
