Default New Magnum worms

Anyone played with the new Zoom Magnum Trick worm? I'm curious about the amount of action you get with them as a floating worm rigged with just a 2/0 or 3/0 hook . Can't be as good as the original .

I have thrown them and found that they out perform the smaller worms when on a shakey head, but are not as good when fly rigged.

I'm a huge fan of the reg. Trick worms, I haven't seen the magnums around here yet. I use the reg. ones weightless, and will prob use the Magnums weightless too. If they are good as the originals, that will make me a very happy man, they kill around here.

Can you get the same side to side motion as the regular trick worm?

I bought a bag and plan to test them out this weekend and was wondering if it was a waste of money.

I am not sure on the side to side part, but they had less action than my regular trick worms. When I fly rig them. I usually treat them like a bottom crawling jerk bait. The magnums did not jump off the bottom the same.

I was guessing that due to the thickness they lost some of their action. I was just curious as to how much. I wonder if I'll be able to get that side to side motion with a med-hvy rod. What's the sink rate like?

I love trick worms!! I'm sure the bigger one would help prevent the frequent dink I catch on them! personally I'm not consered about te thinkness of them. I'm sure the length with compensate.

You can get them now at land big fish! http://www.landbigfish.com/tacklesto...e.cfm?PID=5684

You can not always assume that length will compensate for the thickness of a bait. When you go to a bigger plastic, you almost always lose some of the subtle actions. You can still get a bait to dance, but it often takes a a more forcefull action on your part. This is not an issue if you want to make the bait move longer distances, but if you are simply looking for a slight twitch without moving the bait's location, then a larger bait will seldom react properly.

The side to side action I get with the regular worm, like walking the dog, seems to generate strikes better than a standard pull and drop retrieve. Normally the fish suck it down as it drops out of site. It's a sweet thing when the bite is on!!

Ok I got out on the river this weekend and threw the new Magnum Trick worm, non-weighted, around grass edges. I was pleasantly surprised at how similar the movement is to the original even though this worm is much thicker. The sink rate is the same or maybe even slower as the original worm as well. Small bass, 12" size, still crush the bait too but no problems with 6-10" fish messing with it.

I used a 2/0 offset and hooked up every fish. No problems on braided line.
