Out of all the toad baits I have used The horny toad wins hands down. Watermelon red is my top producer. I have one of those cheap hollow body frog baits that the tail or legs came off that I rigged with a pair of the toad legs. I haven't tried it yet but wanted to see if those legs are the ticket. I haven't been doing too much fishing lately due to a bad hand. I have the worst case of gout that I have ever had. I went up my cabin this past weekend and fished a little friday night. I caught one dink on a spinnerbait. Woke up saturday and my hand looked like one of those cartoon hands all swollen up. Came home saturday without anymore fishing. This is the fifth week with this problem but today it finally is starting to feel better. So maybe this sunday I'll get out again.

Bob

Laser,Did that picture make you think "Yeah spank me darlin' and make me write bad checks" ? I ain't hung up on hats, but the only way I would kick her out of bed is if she wanted to finish on the floor. I mean't to say go fishing out doors. P N J

How do you rig the hook on these barb end up or down and if you do it T-style does it matter or change the action?

I run it with the barb on the TOP of the toads back, exposed...
The trixie frog has a nice couple of ridges on the back where the barb is exposed, which helps keep it weedless....You can have it texas posed or t rigged, usually every time I get to set the hook with a horny toad, the toad goes way up the line once the bass smacks it

Jb got ya covered on these. I have found these baits so far to be excellant when fishing the weeds and the fish bustin bait on top. Fish em like a buzzbait with intermittent drops into holes.

I prefer the horny toad, and like the downward spiral it makes when you stop reeling. If you have your hook in the lure correctly it doesn't turn as much on you, often "fixing" itself to swim naturally as soon as you start cranking it in. Even when its upside down I've successfully hooked/landed nice fish.
