Smile Garlic Spray?

hey guys,
im new on here. Ive heard about people spraying soft baits with garlic spray. I guess since its oiley it will stay on the bait for a while. Anyone tried it and had luck? If not has anyone had luck with spray-on scents? Ive never tried anything like that besides whats already on my powerbait or other pre-scented bait.

Ry,

Welcome to the forum ! To answer your question, I've had a lot of success using fish attractant (spray), including garlice scents. To me, it makes me think that the fish hold that bait a little longer enabling me to have a better hook-up ratio. Also, when fishing soft plastics, the scent just gives me a little more confidence in getting bites. Give it a try and Good Luck !

You can make your own water based scent. Take two cups hot tapwater and add two rounded tablespoons garlic powder and one teaspoon salt (also rounded). Stir well and add some to each baggie of soft plastic lures. Close the bag and mush them about to wet all the lures. Now, float the baggie on a bucket of hot tapwater for 20 minutes to cook in the scent. Open each baggie a little and drain off the excess fluid. You are ready to go.

Being water bases lets the flavor and scent penetrate the plastic itself. If the baggie gets a greenish mold inside as sometimes happens in hot weather, just rinse the lures and baggie in the lake and re-seal. The scent is still in the lure.

Good fishing, Mac

Garlic seems to really help in grass.

do this buy some attractant, go fishing tie up your worm and before you throw your worm out take out the attractant and throw the bottle in the lake, they dont work. its all in the head sorta like your confidence bait, if youve had luck with the attractants then your hooked, but me personally have never had any problems catching quanity and quality without the attractant.

Ya, ive personally never tried any attractants besides whats already on the bait when you buy it. I've never had any trouble catching fishing without em but I wanted to know if people have had better luck using them

They say that bass can smell better than dogs. The slower I fish the more I rely on scents.

And it doesn't hurt anything (unless everyone fishing is using the same scents, possibly).

But why Garlic? None of the basses natural pray smells anything like garlic bread. Seems to me a crawdad scent for jigs would work better. But then, I'm not a bass, lol.

Keithdog, I've often wondered why garlic works-I just know it does.

I've got to disagree with you on that one. When Kick'n Bass first came out I tried an experiment. I went to a clear water creek where I could see the fish and threw identical baits except one had garlic scent on it and one didn't. They jumped all over the garlic scented one and ignored the other one. I did this twice just to make sure. I didn't buy into scents either until I saw for myself they did in fact work.

Maybe that's what I needed when I saw those big bass crusing, some scent. Next trip I'll try some.

I use olive oil as a base, add minced garlic and let it sit. Rub some on your hand before you handle your baits. Does it work, I don't know, but if you think it does you will expect a bite and pay more attention to your line. That may be the real benefit.

Just go to your favorite grocery store or your wife's/mother's cupboard and get a can of PAM garlic scented spray. Works as well as the high priced spread!!!
