Nice work, WJ!!!! If that were a darker shade of green, I'd call it my Green Lantern rod. I think your thread wrapping is spot on.

Turned out awesome!! I would have never picked spring green in a million years but it looks freaking great! I really need to broaden my color horizons. Solid work, nice job! I'm sure he's gonna love it.

Sharp looking rod, got some talent there bud. I especially like the tiger wrap on the handle - - - - - can I send you about 18 rods to have that done? LOL, the shipping would be a deal killer.

Once again, AWESOME WORK!

I really love your tiger wraps and the under wraps on the guides make it look very nice. Like Jrob, I probably would have never chosen that color green, but it does look great! I'm sure your friend will love it.

I got a little slammed at work...But thanks guys for all the kind words and support...This was by far the most challenging rod (almost to the point where I was regretting taking it on) ..It was out of the norm for me...The blank diameter towards the butt is almost as wide as a nickel!

The rod started off as a 7'10 that I cut down to 7'6...and I had the hardest time finding components to fit it right...I actually had to hand file the winding checks to get them to fit in front of the grips!!.....but Im very pleased with the outcome!
Its near perfect balance, and still feels light for it monsterous size!

Waffle, some of those larger diameter rods can be a pain. My old flipping stick was so wide, we bought the largest Fuji ECS reel seat they had, and had to ream it out more to get it to go one far enough, lol.

It really does look great though.

Thanks again guys for all the compliments!!..

Cik,I havent built on much else to really compare them to...Because Im still new at this,I do plan on shopping different blanks to see what the differences are.....But in the two RS blanks that Ive used....I absolutely love em!!!!....Even this one being a Hvy rod at 7'6 still feels light, sensitive and easy to handle.

BigBassin first steered me in thier direction when I got started...I did a toooooon of research on rod boards and the Batson website (maker of RS blanks)....Not a single bad thing was ever said about them...The whole idea behind these blanks were to be sold for rodbuilders to make a living..High performance blank at a low cost...I think they succeeded.

I still want to try the MHX line of blanks..Im willing to bet between to two companies, you cant go wrong.

I've got a friend in TExas who builds custom rods and she does a lot of Rainshadow blanks for some of her high end customers. While I haven't fished with any (Yet), I did notice that they are super light and appear to be real quality blanks.

Check out some of her work
