Default Ants in my boat

You read right, I have ants in my boat. Two of my straps, to the cover, were touching the ground, and ants are now in the back left coner, up under my rubber seal that goes all the way around the boat. How am I going to get rid of them?? You think spray will harm the paint any?

I have had an ant problem for years at the front of my garage area, and my other boat sat there for 4 years and never got ants in it, but the straps were never on the ground either. I've already sprayed their pathways and their old home. I just hope they haven't tryed moving in yet.

Had the TM worked on, and it was down for 2 1/2 weeks, so I switch my boats around. You can bet this won't happen again.

You can get medieval on their *** with a vacuum cleaner. What type of boat is it? If its simple aluminum, you could even fill it with water till you get them out in the open then suck them right up.

Of course spray might do the trick too. I once was worried enough about black widows that I put moth balls in the boat. Never did see a spider in there, but they were in the yard the boat was stored in.

Harold,

They will die this winter for sure if you can't get rid of them by then. They might just starve with no food source.

spray it man. it won't hurt the finish. i too had those debils in the cajun. crawled up the tires after a lot of monsoon rains. had to spray it for a week though to finally get em all. they eat rubber covers off oyur wires. so food source is in there. fire ants will eat ANYTHING they can. just like cockroaches. spray em hard and heavy for a week till oyu see they are all dead pal. be sure to get UNDER everything you can too now. i had em in the BOW of my rig. i lowered the boat and filled it with water to get em out in the open...........BAM! sprayed em and cursed their every fiber. hate critters in my boat. bees, spiders, ants. had em all at one time or another. hopefully i won't have to deal with them much longer where i am now.

They are in the rear left coner. At least that's where they came aboard at. I couldn't believe it, the strap was almost cover with them, coming and going right about the wheelwell. I thought about taping newspaper around the painted area and rubber bumper, so no spray gets on it. (well not much I'm hoping) My boats are in the backyard in front of the garage. I could see them jumping/falling off the boat trying to got to land. (I guess that's what they were doing, but they won't find there way back onto it, because the strap is OFF the ground now. Well the weather here is awful right now, HOT and pop up showers and thunder storms off and on all week long so I won't be doing any fishing till the weekend again. Unless the wife wants to go tomorrow (Her birthday) and we'll just take the 94 Tracker 17 Magna boat. Well wish me luck guys, I'm about to kill me some p!ss ants. (That's what I've always called them, they're not much bigger then a flea and they are black in color)

Well I just came back inside, the boat cover was full of water from last night, this morning rain. Two of my straps had pulled loose, and It had a small lake on the cover. The good news is (I'm hoping) is not to many ants could be seen. So either they are all over the boat now or they have abandoned ship. I'm hoping for the latter. But as soon as it cools off a little and after dinner, I'll be sparying the carpet and bilge area, and up under the rubber seal in hoping they DIE!!

Them little pest, they found the boat trailer jack, and they were coming and going on it. Sprayed it, no more ants there. (for now) I also found the nest/colony (I hope), in the bilge area right behind the two TM batteries, were the carpet meets the boat, heading down to the bilge area. They are behind the carpet.
