downloading music website
I'm looking for a website to download music off my computer. I heard about many different sites. I'm just looking for legit site that everybody seems to have success with. I've heard of scams. But how do you know if it's a scam or not? Thanks for any help!!

Haha, call me a pirate then.
Anyways there is your basic LimeWire programs you can download, just Google Limewire. Works pretty good just make sure you have good virus and spam protection just incase. A really good website that I use a lot is Albumbase.com You search for an artist here and will pull up all the albums the site has for that artist. You can download the entire album from there and I have had no problems with viruses. You will need a WinRar program to extract the files... once again google Winrar. Sounds like a lot of work, but it really isnt and well worth it. You'll have to register with the site, but its free. I've gotten a lot of good stuff from there. As much as I respect and appreciate musicians/bands I cant afford to pay for music... I would be spending over 100$$ a day if we went by iTunes prices, thats outrageous. They make plenty of money from touring and even still cd sales so I think they can handle a few fans illegally downloading music.

So you use Azureous opposed to WinRar? And Minova.org is the database site?

you occasionally can use winrar when you get a Rar.file but other than that, you can download music, software, books, games, etc....first download a free version of www.azureous.com and then go to mininova.org and put what you are looking for in the search box, then once the list comes up of who has it and who is leeching, and file size, click on the one you want.
Azureous will start automatically and then once the bittorrent is transferred the challenge is to be able to open under whatever file they have transferred to ya....most are easy to open and burn to a disc or save. click for azureus click here for mininova theres no spyware or viruses on anything, unlike kazaa and others |

I'd stay away from Limewire. Most of the time your computers firewall will block it. I just get my music form my sister's CD's and put them on iTunes.

I guess it just depends on your virus and spyware protection, because I dont have any problems when I decide to use Limewire [I dont use it much, just when I want to only download one song instead of the whole album].

www.esnips.com and you don't even need any special software to play music and slow down your PC, just the stock WMP. I've been using it for some time now and have never had any problems.

Good luck with it. No matter how you rationalize it, whether you are caught or not, you are stealing copyrighted material.... I hope you sleep well knowing you are a common thief...

She got what she deserved. She could have settled out-of-court for $5000 to $6000, but she decided to lie to a judge and jury and hoped to get away with it.

Yes Otto, I can sleep very easily at night. I'd ask the same question to the industry, who charges people to listen to expression. Music should be free. Bands make all their money touring these days anyways, album releases have taken the backseat.

You're wrong about bands making all their money touring. If that was so, they would have no incentive to record their music, or need record companies at all. It is the record companies that make bands famous in the first place and make their future tours successful.
Better watch out 02, they're picking people at random to prosecute for stealing music. You could be next. Last edited by otto; 10-06-07 at 05:54 PM. |

Like I said, I use my sister's CD's and put them on iTunes. That's not stealing, she bought em. I used to use a Music download thing but when they first started prosectuting people and whatnot, we got rid of it.

Out of... I dont know over a few million people out there, I think I have the odds on my side. Plus, I dont share, I just download from sites. And in no way as much as others. They want to fry big fish, not minnows.

I feel sorry for you 02, you were raised wrong.
You feel entitled to something for nothing and have no remorse because you think the odds are in your favor. My kids (19 and 15) have absolutly nothing in common with you... |
