there is a thing called inlets in the rim of the toilet.. hit the lever water moves out of the tank through inlets -as water moves in to the bowl- gravity takes over from this point. along the equater toilets flush straight down- that is if you can find a commode along that stretch of jungle- in north america they go counter clock wise in brasil clockwise flow..

now do i have to draw you a picture???

Nope-no need. What I found is the same thing you just said. I stand corrected, and I learned something new .

Congratulations!! You have won the prize. It was all in the spin. You stopped to think about it and then you got your brain spinning. And wham-O! You knocked a home run. Congrats again on solving the reverse spin.

zooker
Looks like you have won again.

Zooker! At the equator the ground moves fast, and at the polls the ground moves slowest. The corolis effect. Can't explain it but thet's they way it is. I started this thread a couple of day's back as a brain teaser, and I'm sorry if I have stirred up something. I know you have really been working on this thing, And that is good, It is good therapy for the mind. Again, if I have offended anyone, I appologize. River Stumps

I don't believe anyone has ever proven that the twril is caused by the corolis force. It's just to small of an area. I can understand the winds in a hurricane spinning counterclock, or the ground at North and South polls moving slower than at the equator... We could do some research on John Crapper, the man who invented the water closet for the comode, and bye the way that is why so many people call it the John or the Crapper. That's a fact. He would know for sure. But I think he is gone. But anyway I doubt that we will ever know the answer to the mystries of the twriling comode. Happy fishing

I stand corrected.. After doing some research, I found that Mr Crappers name was Thomas and not John as I stated in my original post.

WELL CRAP!! also you should know that about 1950's or so the water closet was moved to the back of the bowl. before that it stood 4-8 feet above the bowl. as back then they even could jiggle the handle from the "seated postion" by hauling on the rope attached to the handle.

and you know it SUCKS when you fall asleep on the toilet.. man have i ever benn there done that..

My hat is off to Mr. Crapper. How he revolutionized the way we old timmers spent our time reading the Sears catalog was a giant step for mankind. He must have put alot of thought into his great invention as he was setting on the throne. But I doubt that he ever dreamed that there would be such controversey over which way the waste would triwl as it went down the shoot.
