I don't know about hornwort, but I know you can catch bass under Hyancinths.

Dont need to get under them, drop a soft plastic of your choice in the holes or just slowly run it across the top of the mat. Have had bass strike right through the leaves. I also have used a fat frog or fat rat w/ similar experiences. Also a spinnerbait run along the outside edge will draw some strikes. The bass sit just under the leading edge and wait to ambush prey. 8)

yes, bass do love hyacinth. If a cold fornt has just moved through and its still out, pick up your flippin stick (a heavy action rod with heavy line on it, like 50lb braided.) PUt a 1oz weight on and this will punch right through the hyacinths.

If it provides cover for the bass, they'll take it.

LMAO, I am thinking the same thing. All I know for sure if it's vegetation the Bass will be around it. Whether it's called horntoad weed or buttcheese brush doesn't matter to me at all. And I must also admit I couldn't name the kinds of vegetation we have in Indiana, either it's lilly pads or it aint ;D

Absolutely not it's found all over the USA and the world. Currently the biggest population is in IRAQ, and Washington .
