Default Big sting ray.

Highlight of my pier fishing trip to the beach was this 25 pound sting ray. It put up a heavy fight, and took about 10-15 minutes to reel in on my 15 pound test saltwater gear.
Then, had to gaff it, to bring it on the pier (it stands 25 feet above water).

This bad boy was caught night fishing on bottom rigged cut squid with a large circle hook.

This was one heck of a great time for me! A great fish, in my perspective ;D

I caught a stingray last year of about 10lbs also. Not much fight, just weight at the end of the pole. Nice size there, congrats.

I gave him away to some guys who told me they knew how to cook sting rays. It was no good to release, because the gaff made him lose a lot of blood, and he was going to die anyway. But, I too, heard they're not great to eat. Oh well 8)

Nice sting ray, but thats nothing. At Gulf Shores in Alabama, there are huge pods of sting rays swimming by. I was actual nailed by one. It was about a 100 lbs stingray that jabbed its poison barb in my upper thigh. that poison hurt like hell. felt like someone was twisting a hot poker all around in my muscle. I was fishing in about 3 feet of water when a pod came by and it just nailed me. was bleeding real good too. Thank goodness my cousin was there to get me to the house. I still have a nice scar where the barb peiced me. ouch! now, when i see them coming, i start slapping the water with my rod, they swim away. Bastards!

That would be Dan Russell Pier in Panama City Beach, Florida.

Has everyone on the board developed a special dislike on me or something? Why won't anybody believe I am 14?? What the heck is the point of me lying about my age? I have better things to do...

thanx,

I won't call them runners, but they do make short runs. They are pretty good at keeping your rod pressured for a long while though.

rays are fish too ,
