weather forecast for florida

how are you all going over in the US. I am asking for some local knowledge on the weather pattens this time of year in the state of florida as my old's are heading over there in 3 weeks time and are staying there for a month.
In todays sydney paper there is a article warning of a tropical storm (Arlene) that may reach hurricane strength before landfall. it states that Arlene is southeast of Mississippi and moving north.
Is this the normal weather pattens for this time of the year.


I apologize in my slow responce to any post as I do not own a computer I use the one at work.

well...you are comin just in time :....HURRICANE SEASON :P if its anything like last year then you will be in bad luck my friend....right at this moment...we are going on the...what is it?.....11-12th day of rain? it is wet and hot here...all fishin holes are flooded...and its no good for fishin anytime soon....this is all in central florida...and alot of southern and alittle of northern i think....but bassically the weather sucks!!! i think after this tropical staorm passes we will be in some good weather....but the fishin areas will still be flooded...unless you plan on saltwater fishin..in that case after the seas die down you will be fine...let me see if i can dig up some kind of weather report.

Son of a da*m &!%@# the thing is headed strait for me. I still havent cleaned up from the last hurricane. Yes, it is the normal weather pattern. I hate it I was going fishing this weekend but now there looks like there is no point in it. >

fishings not that bad, I went yesterday for only 45mins and landed a 3#, and lost another of about the same size on a single colorado spinnerbait... early in the morning and in muddy water.

nah assie this is normal for florida mother nature is just punishng them for having no winter that is all.

Im still at work.. thanks for the replys I will let my old's know what they might be in for dosen't look good for them but there going anyway. they should have known from last experence when they met hurricane Andrew a few years ago
Bassfisher 02 the old man is a keen fisho they are heading to coco beach then tempa so he will be saltwater fishing.

ya...saltwater fishin is great here......hula...wish i could get out and fish, even if the areas are flooded...the rain is keepin me inside. im sure the weather will clear up fairly soon...

It may be the late night scotch talking here, but I think you guys are being a little melodramatic. I mean yea, Florida gets its share of hurricanes along with the gulf coast, but on average if a guy is visiting from another country such as Austrailia they will not tend to show up just when a hurricane is hitting. Florida gets a lot of thunderstorms, but hurricanes, despite last years anomolie, probably on average occur in the sunshine state once a year or less. Then again what do I know, I live in a hillbilly backwater state that doesn't have access to cable and hence the weather channel. :-/ ;D

Yeah the weather sux right now i cant go fishing right now cuz of the rain and wind of arlene then just about everyday it either rains or thunderstorms!!! What the Heck!!!

wtl...there is already a tropical storm.....granted its not hittin us...its givin us tornado watches....rain...wind...and all together sh!tty weather......they predict 11 hurricanes this season....7 of which will hit land..last i heard. now theres no tellin where they will hit...but florida is just prime for the beatin....we jet out just askin for one :-/ :P i hauled inside right now....real windy here...we have already had 1 person die...in miami of rip tides caused by the tropical storm.....these damn thinngs need to leave...now im not sayin we have one every week....but we have a tropical or hurricane out there almost every week it seems...then it usually dissapears. but every now and then we become lucky enough to get hit...and theres no tellin if this season will be worse then last :-/ :

lone...riptides are always possible....they get worse at times...but alot of times when yopu go to the beach out there might be a riptide.....or undertoe.....
