Thats why you clip the barb or press it down and slide it back out. |

Re: Ouch..........
Had a partner do that on one of his legs. He removed the hook from the bait, then clipped the hook off just above the actual wound and slid the hook on through.
Now go find some clippers strong enough to cut through a hook of that size. |

Re: Ouch..........
That little scratch ? : You should experience a jig hooked all the way to the bend in your leg, where you can't push it back around and through because it went too deep where there isn't enough hook wire left to do so. Don't ask me how ,but it happened to me as a pro am (nonboater) in a Red Man tournament (should tell you how long ago that was). Luckily the boater had duct tape. I cut the line, taped the jig to my leg and fished the whole day out before going to the emergency room to get it removed.Would I do it again ? Hell no, it hurt constantly,I unvoluntarily had tears running down my face most of the day. I finished somewhere back in 60th place while the Boater guy I drew won the pro division of the tournament. Re: Ouch..........
Only close calls I've had have come from casting, usually someone else in the boat. One time my brother was with a friend in their canoe and the friend cast it... only for the hook to go through my bro's lip.
That looks just as painful. |
