Default Sad day for me.

As many of you know, i work with the mentally handicapped. Well, the man that i have been takeing care of for the past 4 months, who grew very near and dear to my heart, passed away at 4:35 this morning. See, his family had nothing to do with him. his sisters, the only remaining members, said he did not exist to them. The only family he had were his caregivers. And with him in ICU, non of us were able to be there. He died alone. I do not understand how anyone could disown thier family just because they are mentally retarded. they are still human beings with feelings and emotions.

The funeral is tommorrow, and the agency i work for asked me to be Pall Bearer. i told them it would be an honor.

Sorry, I'm just sad and needed to get this off my chest.

hey man
sorry to hear about the loss. I think people with dissabilites are angels indeed. they can teach us so much about life. they have to deal with so many challenges in life. This post makes me very sad as well. I hope and pray that you will recover soon.
Sorry for the loss.

you're right. they are angels. very precious people. We were expecting it, as they only gave him a 30% chance of survival when he went to the hospital, but it still aint easy to swallow. like losing a family member myself. I'll be all right knowing hes smiling down from heaven, wondering what all the fuss is over. His mind and body are perfect for the first time ever.

My wife has done that same type of work for over 20 years.
Its never easy but we have experienced the same thing
a half dozen times in that time period, fortunatly all of her clients have had good family's.

Sorry for your loss

The funeral went really well. We took comfort in knowing that his downs is gone, and his mind and body are now even better than ours. His body died, but his life is just begun.A life without struggles, challenges and pain he had while here. Thanks all for the support. The little guy blessed me so much, i was glad to bring a little joy and comfort into his trouble world.

Again thank you all very much. It's good to know i have friends i can turn to when needed.

Im very sorry for your loss.My mom used to do home health care for hospice patients. She had two old people who were very nice and very sweet. They both died and believe me,im happy their in a better place. And she also had a mentally handicapped PVS patient named Brandon. He isnt like Shiavo was;hes a little better than her.She used to bath him, clothe him,and talk to him.He was very sweet. He enjoyed his Barney tapes and cassetes. My mom has since qyuit her job,and still,I missed the old couple and Brandon
Hope you feel better dude. And remember,us bass fisherman look out for each other,on the water and off the water
