Wow, that's a hell of a sale...Anybody ever used one? Good rod, bad rod, ugly rod?

Hmmm, never mind....the only one I'd be interested in would be the 7' M crank rod, and it's a 2 piece. Oh well, better luck next time, I hope.

boy, my monkey has been liking the bad economy, everything has been going for pretty cheap lately! I like the look of the rods as well.

So, I went to Cabela's and picked up a Plfueger Supreme, some Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft 8lb, a Shallow X Rap Shad, a Sebile Koolie Minnow for 5.59 instead of 13.99 , and looked at the cabela's rods.

They weren't marked on sale in the store, but one of the guys told me they should offer it if they can can prove it at the checkout.

Nice! I'm thinking of doing pretty much the same. One of the Cabelas rods and a Pflueger Supreme since I can still take advantage of the "no payments for 12 months" offer.
Been checkin out their quantums as well but the Pflueger is one sweet reel

I've got my Mojo Bass rod on back order from TW. I was gonna get a 7'6" MH "finesse" flipping stick at Cabela's and use it for swimbaits, but they didn't have that one. I guess It's a good thing since I don't have enough money for another reel anyways.

I went to the Cabelas (and BPS) in northwest Indiana today on my way home from Iowa. The rods listed on the website are Bargain Cave prices only and are not honored in the store. I still got an XMLTi for $99 that was $189. It's made for drop shot but I plan to use it for our Sicko stick worms.

A lot of the rods are on sale so just look around and check tags or ask them to look it up.

Those are an excellent deal, thanks!

BIG QUESTION:

Regarding the "Technique specific rods" there, one rod is 7' long is MH action and has an 11" butt and is advertised as a spinnerbait rod. Another rod of the same series is 7' long is MH action and has an 10.5" butt.

Excepting the butt length, is there any real difference between these two as regards the rod blank - does one have a thinner tip than the other, for instance?

The spinnerbait rod may have a fast taper, making the tip a bit lighter, but personally, I prefer rods 6'6" or less for spinnerbaits rods.

Ya, I was wondering the same thing. Which of "Technique specific rods" would be best for everything. I fish worms and t-rigs a lot, but I also throw spinnerbait baits and top water too.. which one would be best for all round? the Worm/Jig, Pitching, or spinnerbait rod? I wanna 1 piece 7 foot MH rod, but it's not on sale () So which would be best?

Also who makes cabelas stuff?

I don't know if they make their rods, but Daiwa does make most of Cabela's reels. It could be possible that their rods are made by Daiwa as well though.

Sweeet.

I just bought a 5'6" casting rod for jerkbaits. Been wanting one since Brookville with JB. No more hitting my rod tip on the side of the boat.

Only 50 bucks, even after shipping added in. Thanks for posting this, BigBassin!

By the way...is $150 bucks good for a new Revo STX high speed? I hear you guys talking about them, and I will of course, now be needing another baitcaster.

LOL Nice! No fear of breakin tips now!
I can't help on the baitcaster advice, I'm a spinning guy.
And yeah, major thanks to BigB!

That's 50 bucks off the normal price nofear. but keep an eye on this guy on eBay. I bought my Skeet Reese revo from him for 180. I'm sure you can find a great deal on an STX. The only problem is he doesn't put much stuff on at one time.

Mallen, I got the same exact reel. I love it so far. Not too fond of the Yo-Zuri Hybrid as of right now though.

You are certainly my hero BigB! you recommended 3 reels to me a couple months ago. Daiwa Exceler (I ended up wth one) Pflueger Supreme and Shimano Saros and the Pflueger won hands down.
Thanks for that and the heads up on the Cabelas sale.
I just ordered my new favorite crankbait combo
