Default Strong treble hooks

I was fishing a private pond today and had already caught 2, 5 lbers when I hooked a big one. I was casting a Strike King sexy shad in 3/4 oz. size. The fish came off. I noticed the fish had straightened out one of the hooks. Since this pond has given up 8lbers., which is big up here I was wondering what brand of hook I could replace the stock hooks with. I am looking for a strong hook.

I've put Lucky Craft treble hooks on a lot of my lures.

I have a couple packs of Daiichi 3X and they are very heavy wire. I'm not sure if you can still get them though since the only place I see them online is here.
Otherwise I haven't had any trouble with Gammy's but I also have not caught an 8# bass.
Barlows has some extra strong ones. In their print catalog they have a lot more than they show online.

I like the Owner treble hooks. Strong, sharp and I like the black nickle finish.

Strength isn't necesarrily related to brand.

Most brand carry a 2X, 3X, or 4X strong hook. Gamakatsu or Owner would be my two pics for brand. Mustad if you're on a budget.

What do the rapalas come with? I've noticed they have very stout hooks.

Rapala's have VMC hooks. Rapala now owns VMC! I believe the X-raps I have, at least those with black nickel hooks have the 8650 or the Sure Set hooks on them. The other X-Raps I have are for saltwater and have a hook with the Permasteel finish. Not sure of the model number. Real good hooks!

My treble hook choice are VMC hooks. Strong, Black Nickle, and tack sharp... you can buy the same hooks they put on the rapala baits here...

My 10lber bent one of the hooks on my xrap, but I had both of em in her. Since then i've adjusted my drag, It was my thinking that my drag should give before the treble hook, no matter the brand. (unless im fishing the slop, but I rarely use trebles then)

Gander had some VMC treble kits on sale. So I'll spend some time changing out hooks this winter. Doc, I never did think that way about setting the drag. Thanks for the tip.
