Default The Trip I have been waiting for is gonna happen

Hey Fellas; I have been wanting to fish Minnesota for as long as I can remember, I have the opportunity to do so this year, and i am taking it. My fishing partner and i will be towing his Jon boat West and fishing a handful of smaller bodies of water.
The best thing about going is I will get a chance to fish with a guy who has taught me a lot about fishing, one who i have never met before and I can't wait for the last week of JUNE!

Have fun. I met a very good friend of mine the same way. It was through another fishing/boating board, and it involved a trip to one of their Rally's down in VA. He lived close to me, so we agreed to partner up for the event. It was something I hadn't done before, I didn't know this guy at all other than posting in their forums. We were going to be spending FOUR days sharing my new bass boat, motel room, meals and related expenses. I was trusting a TOTAL STAANGER not to ruin my 4 days - WTF was I thinking? Anyway, as I said, he's now a very good friend as well as a regular fishing partner. Things went very well and I hope everything goes as well for you on your trip!

Thanks, it is a while a way, and life has taught me things happen, I am hoping nothing gets in the way to screw this up.

That's a great time of year out there. I went to Lake of the Woods on Father's Day weekend years ago. We absolutley killed walleye, pike, perch and smallies. Weather can change fast and drastically. Pack for all conditions. Have fun!

Depending on which way you go, the Northwoods of WI has StCroix area, an the rod factory and Hayward has The Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame. Then you can go down a rock road to this. Isolated,no phone service, how I want it. Can't wait till snow melts!

That's great! I spend a couple weeks a year fishing up there. Nowhere else I'd rather take a vacation.

remember this ebbits.........if all you do is smile when things are bad or people are getting to ya, they'll wonder if it bothers you for real, or they'll wonder if they messed up. either way, you win. i do this each and every day i go in to work. it really does make them wonder. and they stay away from me.

Interesting. The lake place we have is about 90 minutes from Brainerd near the tiny town of Nevis, MN on Lake Belle Taine. One of my best friends at work grew up in Brainerd.

That's cool. I am not trying to pry. Hopefully some of the places you will be fishing will have smallies. They are a blast to catch. Hope you have a great time!

I thought maybe they were trying to keep their "secret fishing holes" a secret.

I'd love to get back to MN for some fishing again. I've spent quite a lot of time fishing there when I was younger. Had some great trips to Cass Lake in MN. In Junee on Cass lake between the island and the mainland is an area known as the narrows. Killed the walleye there after dark. One year we hired a guide and he taught us a simple way to take walleye. Just a plain 1/4oz leadhead jig tipped with a minnow slowly reeled and twitched near the bottom. No hair or anything on the jig. Just a plain one. We even caught musky with that! And for pike, we always did well with a #5 Mepps Aglia spinner, silver with white bucktail. Man, you got me excited just thinking about it again, lol. Have a great time buddy.
