Default Winter Tournament

me and skeeter were talking, and one of us may start up a winter tourny.
would any one be interested? One things for sure, you would have to have over 200 posts to enter, this because we dont want people just leaving others. rules will come if this thing works out. just post if you would enter. we dont know if it will be team or individual yet. what do ya'll want?

better go individal instead of teams as some states have a closed season on bass during part of the winter.. better make it longer than average as winter fishing is any thing but easy..

just my $.02

As soon as you get enough ice to be able to walk out on and fish, let us know, JB and I will join as a team.I would wear big clown shoes. The bigger the surface the more weight you can carry on thinner ice. I would recommend a safety line as well. Any of you Florida guys want in,sign up, might want to buy a Carolina skiff so when you drill a hole through it to ice fish, it will still float. P N J

pnj,
the ice is skimmed over here right now! bluegills are easy to ice fish, but bass fishing is going to be a tad harder...since I've only ice fished with a swedish pimple tipped with a minnie or wax worm, what do you suggest if we can't use live bait in a tourney probably be fishing 9 feet depth max...same ol holes I drill every year within a foot or so..

Bass ?Bass season is closed here. I see this ice fishing tourny is going to be tougher than I had thought, I guess I will have to withdrawl from the ice fishing competiton.Jb swedish pimples will catch bass. You ever use mousey grubs instead of waxworms ? P N J

you vertical fish it a foot or so off the bottom, at any level the fish are.
I jiggle it and let it set, or pop it up 6-12 inches and let it flutter down, on like 4 or 6 lb test, but others used 1 or 2 lb test for ice fishing

JB, I vertical jig them on primary points on 8 lb test from a boat most of the time in 20 feet of water , or so.The swedish pimples, crippled herrings,Cotton cordell spoons, Hopkin shorty spoons, silver buddies, the infomercial Zip lure lure, they all work well for everything that swims, always guaranteed a lake trout limit off one of the primary points. The lakes are so big and deep they seldom freeze over, the upper branches of my home lake freezes up, but I would rather fish out of a boat than off from the ice.
