Default David Fritts crankbait combo

I got to try my new combo out yesterday and WOW what a smooth combination. Cast the plug a friggin mile with no effort. Didn't catch anything, but love the feel of this combo.

Rod--American Rodsmith 7'm H3 -David Fritts Crankin Stick
Reel--David Fritts 5.2:1

Yep they're really good reel. Bought 2 of 4.7:1 when it was on sale 59.95. Seat on both 7'6" Crankin Stick. Love the setup.

Actually the reel is at 89.99 right now.

JB Trust me I stole it from him for a few casts and that is a great set up but the reel is to big for my taste. I like extremely low profile but thats me. I dont know if you can find a reel that will cast a crank futher.

hey bandit... it just might come up missing after the get together, hehehehehe. kidding of course. fantastic set up lash. i broke my old faithfull last sunday. the first mag force reel made by garcia. gonna have to send it off to get repaired. i know that they are gonna want to replace it for the same cost as a new reel the "compares" to it, but i want THE REEL FIXED, not a replacement. it is the first real reel i ever bought. had it for over 25 yrs. i love that reel, it is a 5:2:1 ratio and i use it for flipping wtih braid. yes i cried when it broke. but it can be fixed, and will be fixed.

Just currious as I don't have either reel. How does the David Fritts reel compare to a BPS Extreme reel when it comes to casting distance and smoothness?

I was telling zooker sunday I got to take out the fritz reel and my crankin rod and really loved it...I put on the lightest bandit I could find and threw it a honkin' mile... the stick is a tad heavier than I'm used to, but as I get to heavier deep diving cranks I am sure it will really work well for me.
I'd say I got about thirty extra feet easy on my cast, and I havent even pushed the limit yet...The reel requires hardly any feathering of the thumb.

Keith, they compare very favorably. The 4.7:1 is as smooth as the Extreme and makes throwing a big bruiser like a DD-22 MUCH easier. If you are throwing a big plug you get distance by default. I bought one a couple years back and really like it.
