pouring it isnt the bad part filling the burs off the finished product and breathing in the lead is the dangerous part

Basskicker,

I just thought of a way to avoid the lead particles you created. Just grab a big container that is wide enough to fit your hands in and something transparent might even be better, like a plastic tupperware.

Fill it up with water. Then with your jig in one hand, place it into the water and start filing away the burrs with a rasp or file while keeping the jig submerged. Any particles both large and small would be "caught" by the water and be prevented getting away through the air and into your lungs.

When you're done you could dispose the water and lead particles in the backyard. Voila! No health hazrd or risk!

I don't make my own lead heads yet, but if I ever did, that is what I would do, moreso for the sake of my young ones than me. Let me know if it works. Good luck!
