Yep thats what was done to the 14 pounder ny buddy found floating.It is now in the share lunker due to this procedure.Her name is Grace and she was found on lake fork.

Your local wildlife dept sight shouls show this.I think its like a ball air needle.Great question.

It is more of a hypodermic needle. You need to check with your state to make sure it is legal to posses one. Also, it is used when you keep a fish (say for a tournament) and put it in your live well. The people who typically do this are the pro’s when they catch a deep fish (20+ feet of water). If you practice C & R you don’t need to fizz the fish.

Just my thoughts.

Not sure if it was on here or not but I saw a post about a taking a weighted cage and dropping the fish down with it

They also do this with snapper, grouper, jack, and other off shore salt water fish. But in the salt water fishes case, the stomch get blown out, and sticks out the mouth, just google image grouper, and you'll see what I mean.

I'll have to use that when I get a boat!

are you serious about the weighted cage..... im sure it would take it down but do they heal the air bladder up themselves..... it might work..... glad i dont fish that deep

you can get them at any vet supply. they are the same kind of needle that we use to administer shots to our cattle.
