Default Looking for a better jig trailer

Ok, I use pork some (in winter). I also am a big fan of rage tail (cept they have too much action when the water starts cooling off)

Lately i've been using the yum chunks.

That being said im looking for a real floating jig trailer. The reason being I just got some of the evolution jigs (wich I love) but the yum chunks pinchers do not float, thus no defensive stance for the jig.

So, I figured I would turn to the boards for some of infinite wisdom (as long as it's not political, rofl) on a good floating jig trailer. the only thing I want is a floating pinchers jig trailer that looks natural, with NON oversized pinchers.

Strike King 3X trailers float. They're real durable too.

Thanks guys, I've eyed the strike kings before but never paid enough attention to see they float. Ill try both and report back on wich I like best.

I really really like the yum chunks but was disapointed that they offset the pivoting weight of the evolution jigs. tho I did bang a nice fish with the evo/ yum combo saturday at monticello, I like my jigs to look as lifelike as possible.

Do you thread it on or hook it like a pork trailor? With zoom chunks, they have a wide solid piece where you attach it to the jig, so I sometimes will run my hook right through the center (not threaded, but like a pork). I haven't looked at it in a pool, but i think it slows the fall and makes the jig glide a little because of the large flat suface area. Therefore, it creates drag and the jig will usually land upright. But like I said, i don't know if it works, just something i do.

I usually thread it. I looked at it underwater and the jig falls corectly, even lands correctly every time (literally could not MAKE the evo jig land on its side in a tub of water). The problem I had with the chunks (did not try to hook it like pork) is that the jig would land upright making the threaded head point up in the defensive posture like its supposed to, but the pinchers would not float so they would lay flat.

Not a problem if your hopping your jig, but if your slow dragging it, It never raises its pinchers, up.

Mabye im too picky, but I like to visualise how my jig is supposed to look underwater and when I laid it on a log a few feet underwater saturday and got a look at it, I liked everything I saw except the craws were not raised when the jig was still.

there is a pic of the jig head im using, see how it "stands up" well that dont mean a hill of beans if the pinchers dont float. I really like the jigs by the way, just alot of hype around them.

(also purchase them bad boys off e-bay, found a place where they were trying to get rid of em, selling the expensive suckers at half price)

that's why i make my own. It'd be cool if a guy could find a way to inject the pinchers with some of that expanding foam, just a pea sized amount.

Has anyone ever heard that bass like crawfish with no pinchers much better than with? Seems to me that big pinchers would deter some strikes especially if the fish is not in an aggressive mood.

Although I do catch a lot of bass on Paca craws and Craw Papi which have big claws.

Yes I have, I like trailers with average sized pinchers, not the oversized grand daddy pinchers on alot of trailers. I want my jig to look like the fattest, weakest, crawfish in the bunch.
