Default chatterbait add ons

Being that I've had no luck with the chatterbait, using the plastic that comes with it I was wondering what a good trailer would be? I was thinking about the new plastic swimbaits. Anybody using anything on theirs with good luck?

Lake Fork Magic Shad. Well known "secret" here in Texas.

I almost always use a fluke ,having said that If i use a splittail trailor I use a zoom which is a little longer and a little fatter than the ones that come in the pack. I have also had better luck this year with the strike king brand than the original chatterbait. The hook is longer on the Strike King and is attached by a cable which makes it more flexable. The bladeis a little different also. I catch fish on it using it as a jig by power jigging it or by cranking it in grass or weeds. I caught soem Smallmouth tipping it with a zoom chunk on the power jig presentation. It is a very strong reaction strike bait. Fish2win

I use a 3" grub, and 5" grubs instead of the trailer that comes with it from time to time. I don't mind using a white grub, with a chartreuse bait/skirt, or a chartreuse grub with a white bait/skirt. Or just match white to white, and chartreuse to chartreuse. Actually I always use chartreuse/clear instead of standard chartreuse. I have used flukes also, but have had better success here in Florida with the grubs.

Fished two days this weekend from shore. Tried the Lake Fork Migic Shadf on the chatterbait, nothing. Poor fishing, caught one dink on a spinnerbait. Kept getting hits on the sweet beaver but they must have been dinks or blue gills. Took the tails off the beavers. Nothing on top either.

You want to see something crazy.....use one of those 3X brand stickbaits (Senko) as a trailer. Haven't caught anything on it yet, but it's the wildest looking thing you have ever seen coming through the water.
