crazy from my understanding of the choke cayon lake ya need to get off the bank and use the topo map for more than a beer napkin..

i took me 3 YEARS to figure out badin and i still can come up empty..but i know where to find the fish.-making them bite is the hard part..

Are there stumps in that place? All the big lakes I've fished, you can catch them all summer long, in the stumps. On tournaments some people will find some good stump, and just anchor down, and fish the whole tourney there.

ok here are my choices

the top left arrow shows a steep drop off on a point adjasent to a creek channel.

the arrow lower left side this is where a main lake channel swings in close to the bank.

lower middle arrow it is a hump near an island in a currant area.

upper middle arrow main lake point -need i say more-

right arrow main lake point near currant-from the channle swing my guess is this one is washed in fairly decent currant when they pull water..

the arrow on the far right is where the channel gets up tight against the bank next to an island.

any one care to disagree with me??

zooker,

So you're saying POINTS, HUMPS, and CHANNELS . LOL, well I won't disagree, good looking lake there by the topo, but cover can, and will also make a big difference, not just the structure.

Thats a nice job zook, thats awesome that you can do that, I want to learn to read topo maps, especially of lakes.

Wrong lake, hoss-you are thinking of Canyon Lake-north of SA and about 25% the size of Choke Canyon, which is what the map is.. This one has a fair amount of weeds, and I've seen it where there is a solid mat 25 yards out into the lake from the bank. That said, I agree with your areas to fish, although the far right arrow is about 80 feet deep but has some good dropoffs leading to it.

Here's a closeup of that far right arrow:

And here is one with the GPS Coordinates:

Wouldn't know where to begin. Average lake depth in Fl is about 10-20 ft. That may be a tad high.
