Default Friday 1-05 on White Pelican Lake

Now I know why they named it this. Our "snowbirds" are white pelicans! Pretty windy this afternoon, so I mostly trolled. Got 21 in 3 hours. Biggest about 3 pounds. Had a drag burner pull off right before it hit the surface .

1 bass today on my first cast with a zara spook. I have been fishing in the Florida Keys, so that was my first bass in a while.

I went out for a little bit today (less than an hour). I caught a couple of bluegill and a nice peacock bass on a zara spook.

8 inches

2 pounds 13 ounces

Tight Lines Everyone! Nice fish to those who have entered them!

I had a great day today! I caught 7 fish:
4 peacock bass on fly
1 peacock bass on zara spook
1 largemouth on fly
1 largemouth on a senko

First, I tried out my new senkos that I got on ebay. First cast with it and first cast at the Christmas tree I sunk two weeks ago, and I caught a bass.
Oh, Christmas tree. Oh, Christmas tree...

Then, I went to one of my spots and the fish were stacked up.
I lost a fish on a shad rap and got a little peacock on a zara spook. The fish that were stacked showed some interests, but were tough to cast to. After that, I saw a monster fish, apart from the others. I cast the fly rod a few times, and I hooked up. The line cleared and The fish went down and away. It got me around a branch. The branch eventually came up, and I got the fly line off. By that time, the fish got me in the weeds. A little bit later I got him up...

4 pounds 13 ounces on 4 weight

Another picture.

Eventually, I got one of the fish that was stacked up...

3 pounds 1 ounce

Another picture

Sometime in this, I got into another school of peacocks, and saw one of the biggest largemouth I have ever seen. It looked to be double digits.

This wasn't the best day for numbers of fish. I fished for about 1 1/2 hours and can't wait until I can get back to the spot.

Thanks. The peacock pulled a lot of drag on the 4-weight. It was just a few ounces shy of my personal best (which was on an 8 weight).

More peacocks today. I caught 7 fish today:
3 peacocks on fly
2 peacocks on zara spook
2 largemouth on zara spook

I found the same school of peacocks that I got the 3 pound 1 ounce fish out of.

First fish of the day...
1 pound 15 ounces on the 4 weight

2 pounds 1 ounce

2 pounds 3 ounces

Then, I took a few casts with a zara spook, caught 1 little bass, and then this fish. I guessed the weight to the ounce.

2 pounds 5 ounces

I figured that I would go to one more spot, even though it was around 5:45. I caught another little largemouth on the zara spook and then this fish.

2 pounds 2 ounces

Less than 1 1/2 hours of fishing today.

Tight Lines Everyone and Hopefully Your Thumbs Are Torn Up Too!

I tie my own. A clouserlike streamer. Almost all the peacock and largemouth I catch come on the same type of fly.

Nice

I am heading out tommorow with a celebrity pro bass fisherman.

Hopefully I can contribute a few pics then.

I haven't been out since the little cold snap, So I am not sure how that has effected them yet..

6 largemouth on senkos today

4 pound 1 ounce largemouth bass on 10 lb test

20 1/2 inches

Have any of you found that if you wait longer after you take the fish out of the water, the are shorter? I measured the fish right when it came out of the water and it was 21". I took pictures holding the fish, measured it again and it was 20.5". What do you guys think?

Tight Lines everyone!
