welcome to the site! i salt fish too.
you can bass fishin all year long, and it gets really good in the dead of winter for me atleast. in spring, you can catch the bedding fat mamas that are really active.

Welcome to the forum-always glad to see a fellow Texan join the board!

You can catch bass year round, but the best time IMO is late spring and right now-early fall. As the water temp cools in the fall they start to feed for winter. Winter fishing is sloooow-cold water+cold blooded bass=lethargic bass that do not feed often. However, when you do get a bite in winter it can be a real toad. Majority of the big bass are caught from December-February.

Zook says there are four seasons at Badin. Pres pawn, spawn, post spawn and hunting season, and the best time to fish Badin is during hunting season when zook is in his tree stand. Seriously, Feb to may to June is my best time when the bass are moving from deep to shallow waters in the pre spawn mode. Keep check on the moon phase and when the first full moon and the H2o temp hits that magic 55 to 65deg then they should be active and ready to be in a feeding frenzy. Fish around any kind of cover stumps, lay downs, trees, weeds, rocks anything that will hold fish. Hope this helps as far as fishing pres pawn. I’m with Reb on the bigger bass in the winter. Good luck and good fishing.
