Default Identifying a transducer?

purchased an older boat that came with no electronics. it has a transducer in bilge area and one on transome. both cables have humminbird on them. my question is...can a person tell what model fish finders or chart plotters these would work with? there are no marks or numbers on the transome transducer and cant get my fat head far enough into bilge area to see the puck type transducer well. the cables have no identifying marks either. thanks, tony

The one in the hull, you probably won't be able to identify it without removing it. The one on the transom you may be able to identify by going to Humminbird's web site. All their available transducers are listed with a picture. Match it up visually and all the uints that use that transducer are listed.

It would probably be a lot easier just to purchase electronics of your choice and fit within you budget (either new or slightly used) rather than trying to find a head unit to match to the existing transducers. Newer units are so much better than the old ones and will last many years. Who knows how long an old unit will continue to work, if/when you finially find one and go through the effort of installing it.
