Default what to make of this.

I when pond fishing today, caught several but these bass got me confused. I broke the pond down, but get this, they only hit spinnerbaits, the odd part is i tied on a chartrouse, 3 times, boom hit it, couldn't get bit again, tied on white, second cast boom a 1 lb.. no more, it was getting dark, i tie on the midnight special, big purple, with rattle and big colorado, boom first cast.. then several casts... nothing, tied on a solid black, tiny spinnerbait, and hooked 2 and both came off at bank.. what does that tell you guys... i figured a reaction, but why not hit the same color, i know they aint that smart... are they??

That's similar to what they call "Junk" fishing. Sometimes fish get in a mood and it seems like they all want something different. You might catch one on a spinnerbait, and then catch another on a crank, a little while later catch one on a jig, and then a short time later catch one on a frog.

It can be fun and frustrating at the same time, as anglers, we usually like to try and develop a pattern so that we can repeat our success, when fish are in this mode, you get to try lots of different baits, but not much is repeatable.

Oddly spotted bass in the ohio river pre spawn stacked up on objects in the current man made generally, will slam a jerkbait then wont hit it change color another will, can change colors several more times then go back to the first one used each one good for 1 fish. And can limit out in same spot ,but with different colors of pretty much same bait.
Agree its a mood but using same thing dont consider that junk fishing.
And I only see this just prior to spawn, not post.
Just happened to you with spinnerbaits.

in this pond, people throw everything, not saying i am a pro, but me and my bro "know" how to use em though, and to Tav and lilmule, that sounds about like it. last fall stick baits and at nigh heddon props were staples just trying differant things.. I am not sure what mode they are in, i cant see any on beds.
