I still prefer skulling to lugging battery & trolling motor for my jon boat.

I still use my ABU 4500 and 4600AL. Wouldn't trade either of them. The 4500 has no thumb bar. Little button on the side that you push to release the spool.
Bought both of those reels back in the 70's, fish them both regularly. Why swap for something that's more expensive and probably less quality. I do need to get them both tuned, though.

I have a couple Abu round reels I still pull out every now and again. But not that often, kind of like taking an old classic car out. I appreciate how smooth and refinded the new LP baitcasters of today. I can fish all day with little hurts and the old stuff beat the tar out of me. But still fun to joy ride!

I only have on old Abu left. The others (Bantams) went for a ride out of the boat onto the highway two years ago and bit the dust.

Well, Bama, since you ARE an antique(me, too) it makes perfect sense to use an antique reel!

I still use on occasion an old Abu 5000 and 6000 reel. And an old Abu 306 spinning reel-the first spinning reel I ever had. All 3 are older than a lot of the posters here.
