Default Sebile D&S Crank

I finally jumped off the wagon and picked a couple up and tried them out. While I can't say it will catch fish, that remains to be seen, I can say it digs and comes through the wood like a champ. I tried it out at Okhissa last week. This place has more wood than a porno convention. It ran straight and true and dug deep. I wish I would have got a count for a foot or ran over it with my depth finder, but I really wasn't thinking about it at the time. I did snag a couple of times, but it is really buoyant and I would snap it a time or 2 and it would pop out. I didn't have to use the gopher for any of the snags. I will keep trying it out though until I give up though. I used my new Lamiglas 7'6" build and an E5. The rod is based off the old Skeet Reece rod he used to use. The rod felt really flimsy and I actually doubted pulling the dozers. But I threw the Sebile, DD22, 6XD and a few other deep diggers with ease. I picked up the Senko to wipe the skunk off and put a few fish in the boat, but my main stay was the crank just to test it out. The are kinda of pricey, but if if you are chuncking LCs, I suggest giving it a try.

Bubba when you say you got them hung, do you think the bill was dug into some wood or they were actually hooked? I've wondered about that hook design/setup ever since I first saw them (didn't somebody have one out before Sebile?). I throw deep cranks through some nasty stuff and don't have the patience to try and retrieve a hung plug in 15-20' of water (plus I've never had much luck doing it) In the spirit of efficiency I'd rather just get right over the top of it, job my pole straight down, and pull till something gives. I just calculate the loss into my crank budget every year.

Anyway what I am more curious about is what you find out about hookup ratio. I catch LOTS of fish on all cranks (DD-MD-SD) that are hooked everywhere but inside the mouth. I'm not down there looking but I've been doing this long enough to feel confident that lots of those fish are just knocking "at" the bait or side swiping it, or in some cases-maybe they do "eat it" but are in the process of spitting it out when 6 or 9 needle sharp hooks flailing about find some meat. Of course on those days when they swallow a crank whole and all you see boatside is line sticking out their mouth....

Don't forget to post your findings in this regard. If anybody else has used them feel free.

Ken, you are correct on most of the hangups. Alot of times the bill would wedge in a branch. If I do ever catch one, I will be sure to let you know.

I did do some searches before buying them, but didn't find a lot of info on them.
