Most of us use commercially available scents. I use Kick'N Bass, YUM, Carolina Lunker Sauce and Megastrike.

no scents other than what the bait came with, for me.

I use a cheap spray as "lube" for swimbaits, thats it.

Err zook, I beleive the company says it is petroelum oil based. on fishinfanatics one of the members called the company just to clear this whole thing up. I could possibly, probably be wrong...

Yeah, and all the people who ***** about it being petroleum based should sell their outboard, and carry the boat to the water, as even the bearing buddies leak a bit

Then go buy some of just about any other brand attractant, and look at the 'rainbow' oil spot they leave on top of the water when being used.

I use to make my own 15-20 years ago, but now I by the commercial stuff.
Here is the formula any way: Put your worms in a quart zip lock bag, add garlic powder, salt and a little mineral oil. Shake it up and you are good to go.

Add food coloring, and you pretty much have the commercial formulas right there

Hm, but smell really only affects catfish (it doesn't affect bass much right?)(oh and let me just say those Rat-l-Trap lures are really good with catching bass)

yea it does affect them, there are lots of things that turn them off, such as human smells, just catfish are known for their acute sense of smell. and when i go catfishing, my bait doesn't "stink" i actually think it smells good, but it catches em' up

Hmmm, would you suggest putting scent onto a lure or spinner bait?

gel would stay best on those, but i like to think of spinners as reaction baits myself, but you will get all kinds of answers from different people
