I fished Rend Lake a couple of times last summer and I had success on Lizards along the rip rap and on strike king crankbaits. A lot of people seem to fish spinnerbaits and beat the banks. I caught most of mine of docks.

Well since I am guessing you are talking about Rend Lake in Illinois. My cousin goes to the community college there. He doesn't do much fishin but he said him and his friends were bored one night and they went about bought some poles got some live bait and pulled out fish after fish. I personally have never fished it.

P.S. I am from around Cape Girardeau, Missouri

Streams? nah, the only thing down here that has been doing any good is Castor River. School is killing me though and I am losing my fishing time.

Ahh beautiful Rend Lake. Grew up 1/2 mile from it. Definately consider it my home water. But the old girl isnt what she used to be. Theres alot better lakes than Rend and not that much farther from you.

I'm not gonna say you did anything wrong. The Baby 1 minus is the bait we usually use on the rip rap. Rend is a little bit of an odd bird. You were there in August it was prolly 100 degrees. Those stupid fish will get way back in the thickest brush you can find and be in enough water to cover their backs. The lake is so shallow that instead of seeking cooler water they look for shade. It's tough in the summer.

See I was fishing from the bank when I was up there and what was working was cranking the docks and they were in the shade but its kinda hard to fish from the bank. I caught like 21 when I was up there and like two were over 2lbs but didn't get any big ones. I hooked into something freakin Huge on a crankbait and it took a fast run and broke my line but it must have been huge. I don't know it it was a bass. I had my drag set to tight for cranking as i switched from the lizard.

As far as the colors Cheartruse and BLue on the cranks was dynamite.

Maybe a time or 2 in High school. And yep were still laughing about it. Although not for the reasons youre suggesting. We snuck onto the public beach at night after it closed. Got caught by the park Ranger who also happened to be our Biology teacher. Whew were there some awkward moments :-[

We throw the chrome black back 1 minus chrome blue rat-l-trap. white spinnerbait maybe chartreuse. For plasticks black and blue is the staple.
