I'd love to hook into some snakeheads. They look like a heck of a good time on the end of a line. That things a monster!

I fished there (Potomac river) 4 days (just before Dale Hollow) and didn't hook into one although several guys caught them in excess of 10 pounds. Going back in a few weeks, and I really want to get a big snakehead. I've only caught one snakehead, it was several years ago and it was about 18". The are aggressive and vicious on the strike and now that they've had a few years to get some real size to them they sould be an awesome catch.

Just try to remember what they are eating to achieve that size. Any species that can grow that fast has to be doing it at the expense of some other species! Kill all of them you catch, we don't want them getting into any of our other waters!

A lot of mis-information has been given out about MD's best and newest gamefish. I counted all the Potomac Pike I have caught and cleaned and the count is 60 plus. Want know what was in there stomachs?

Capt Mike

I agree with you 1000% Mike, there are lots of shows depicting the snakehead as jaws with legs. exspecially animal planet, everything on that show is killer this or terror that.. these are awesome fish

It's not going to get the record. The angler, Juan Durán, of Woodbridge, forgot to get official length and girth measurements before he gave the fish to a friend who needed groceries.

Sorry Lash....didn't see your post or wouldn't have put up pic on the other board.

Big friggin fish. Saw a 16+ last year and Capt's caught a big one too. Fun to catch. Buddy of mine had one about 4lbs launch out of the water on him two weeks ago.......he screamed and ducked!!! Then said it was the coolest thing he had seen.

I guess im the oddball here, but Id love to have snakeheads nationwide and thrive in local lakes. No, they are not bass killers and only bass killers. They simple forage for food, and if a juvinile bass fingeling crosses its path it will eat. Doesnt make them bad at all. An adult bass would do the same thing, as well as catfish, pike, gar, etc.

Educate yourself thoroughly and unbaisedly before knocking the snakehead.
