Default New Boat Question

Just bought a new Nitro 189. Looking for info on a front deck extension. Basically a plug to go where the cut out walk through area is. Im sure somebody has made one themselves....

Welcome to the forum!

Probably wouldn't be too hard to make one. If you don't get any help here-I don't recall seeing that here before-you might try here:

bassboatcentral.com/

I'd be willing to bet someone there has done it or knows how.

PILOT,
I have had several of these deck extensions on past Rangers that I have owned, and they would not be too hard to build. You could make them one of two ways....You could make one with a hatch in the top, which give you one extra storage compartment, or you could make one with the back open to hold a cooler or tackle boxes or whatever. It could have a back that hinges down, or left open in the back.
All you would need is a piece of 3/4 inch exterior grade plywood, which would need to be waterproofed with a couple coats of epoxy resin, then covered with a piece of carpeting to match your boat carpet. ( you could probably order matching carpet from Nitro) Then pop rivet two "L" brackets on each side of the opening and one in the front to hold the deck extension up level with the deck and screw the deck extension to the "L" brackets with stainless screws from the underneath side of the deck extension.
If this description is unclear, go to a boat dealer and see if they have a used boat on the lot with an extension installed, or hang around marinas and talk to someone who had a extension installed. Ask them if you could look at the extension to get an idea of how to build one.
