Default Smaller ponds...

Hey all...new to the forums. Love what Ive read so far. Ive recently moved to a golf course neighborhood in Florida with quite a few small ponds on the course. Ive been throwing a soft plastic worm for the past week or so, but I havent gotten ANYTHING yet. Ive noticed that the fish in the pond, whatever they may be, have been nipping small minnows off the surface in the evenings. So Im wondering if the 6 inch worm is too big??? Anything smaller that I could use??? Just thinking too much??? Thanks for any help. I need a fish soon.

First of all, welcome aboard.

I would start with a small hulp popper. It could be bluegill hitting fry. With a small hula, you should be able to trigger a bite and to also lure out the bigger fish. You may also want to go with a small rapala.

I've fished fl ponds and golf courses about this time of year and had the most luck with a chrome and blue rattletrap. The locals told me to throw a purple worm. I also did well on shallow running bandit crankbaits.
I couldn't buy a bite on anything top water

JB said about what I was gonna say. A small rattle trap or bandit crankbait. Also try a spinnerbait. If you want to go small, use a Booyah pond magic spinnerbait.

I went fishing to a pond and caught 8 or 9 little bass in about 90 minutes. 3 on a mans baby 1- 2 on a clear/blue topwater poper, and 4 on a Rapala shallow slash bait. It seemed like after 3 or 4 fish were caught on a given lure that they would stop biting and the minute I switched lures they would be hitting it again.

I would like to suggest a 4" Zoom curly tail in a watermelon seed or green pumpkin with a 1/16 oz texas rig. They tend to be killer locators in ponds around the house. They are also good for locating white perch. If it is machine gun taps, it's bream, mushy bites tend to be white perch, and thumps and walk offs tend to be the bass. If it is on a golf course, the fish might be stunted due to the lack of harvest and it might be infested with 1/2 - 3/4 bass, too.

Who needs a fly rod?

What I do is use a UL spinning rod with 4-6lb mono and than put the bug on, I'll also use some 4lb line and tie a 3' long leader from the popper hook, and than tie a little fly on the end of that!

Main line, popper, leader, fly

.... is main line
P is popper
\\\ is leader
F is fly

............P .........................F

throw a wacky worm... best pond lure ever

then throw a fluke... if they hittin on top then this is the way to go... twitch it all the way back.... and then twitch twitch sink.... try different things.. let it sink by cover

last 2 days we have caught 120 fish b/w 3 of us on those 2 lures....

Instead of everything suggested so far, since he started with a worm (which is a good lure for down there and shoulda worked) he needs to bring out something that will catch fish if they're in there.

He needs to get a beetlespin. Topwater, full size lures - no. You gotta get your feet on the ground to start walking. He needs to get a fish, anything, first. Beetlespin will catch something.
