best line for garcia
relaively new to fishin and was told 2 use 20lb test on every pole when fishing for bass.have a couple of garcia 6500 series reels and garcia rods medium action(dont know what that means) and not quite sure what size and type of line to use. im using a worm one one, buzz on another, and spinner on another. any suggestions will be great plus most popular line. just got fireline and has great feel but seems to cast rough because of the black stuff on line (smokey color LINE). thanxs for yalls input

A mediun actuon rod has a soft tip with a lot of give to it-great for crankbaits and topwaters. for worms, jugs and spinnerbaits I prefer medium heavy-i get better hooksets with the stiffer rod. I'd drop down to 12 lb test line. The only time I would use 20 lb is for real heavy cover, and if I'm fishing that I'd use a braided line like Powerpro. I use 50 lb Powerpro because it has the same diameter as 12 lb mono, whith I use for spinnerbaits, cranks, topwaters, anything where I don't need feel like I do with a worm or jig.

Why not, I use 15 lb test in Ponds, So go ahead, but remember this, the line will be super stiff!! Also you will probably get memory up the wazoo.
Heres a breakdown on what I use- I have a 6ft Medium Heavy spinning rod with 8lb Trilene XT, for worming I have a 6ft Med. Baitcaster it is kind of retired but I use 14 lb test and its for cranks and jigs I have 6ft 6in Medium Baitcaster spooled with 15lb Big Game, which I do alot of everything on it, I crank, I jig, I topwater, I Spinnerbait, I buzzbait, and try to worm, it is hard casting though, because they are so light.

Type Lines
Crankbaits: 10 mono or flouro depends on the conditions.
Spinnerbaits, top water baits, rattle-traps: 14 mono Twitch baits: 10 flourocarbon Worms: 17 flourocarbon Jigs: 20 flourocarbon These are what "I" use. Others opinions may vary. I do recommend Stren. Once again, others opinions may vary.

wow 6500's talk about a low ratio-geared -winch. 20 pound is a tad much imo i use 12 pound ande-because i like it..-on just about everything. a 6500 is a very diffacult to cast with just a texas rigged worm. what kind of weight are you trying to use??
