Default Bass 101

Just moved into a new house that backs up to a large pond. We have fished for the last week and have been lucky enough to catch some bass from 1/2 to about 3 lbs. We have not fished much at all before and we are looking for a website that will give us the basics like weather conditions, time of day, what type of bait to use, top water vs fishing on the bottom, etc.

Thanks in advance

Default Thanks for all your help!

The first week we caught one bass after another it seems. We are fishing an area about the size of a football field. We released everything that we caught so that we can catch them again. The last couple of nights have not been nearly as good (same time, same conditions). Have we fished out our area? Are the ones that we caught not biting again? Will they bite again or have they moved to a different part of the pond?

Howdy,
Yep, they'll bite again, I have read they don't have long term memory capabilities, but they do "learn" if pounded day in and day out. Try moving around and using different presentations of your lures and different colors as well. Time and practice will teach you all you need to know about them critters, just give them a break now and then, and you'll enjoy that pond for a long time.

What part of the country is this in? The little pond I fish here in Omaha is pretty much hit or miss depending on the day. I can usually pull in 1 or 2 a night though. It will really slow down when it gets hot here in July and August.
