Default Suggestions For Revamping This Boat

Hey Guys,

I just picked up this boat last night. It was given to a buddy who didn't have time for it so he called me up and told me I could have it if I came and got it. It is a early to mid 70's 16' Glastron with a 50 horse Merc. My buddy got the motor running and his cousin was amazed at what good shape it was in. If the hour meter is correct it's only got 160 hrs on it. The wood in the floor is pretty much shot so I'm planning on replacing it and the carpet. My plan is to put in a 3 across bench seat and front and rear casting decks with seats. Under the rear casting deck I want to put in a permanent gas tank, batteries, and charger. I'm debating whether or not to put in a live well since I won't be tourney fishing from the boat. Under the front deck I want to put in a rod locker and other storage. Tell me what you think and give me suggestions on how to go about it.

first off once you cut the floor out odds are the stringers will be bad also..remember 3 across seating was unheard of basicly case the boat aint 70inches wide.. these boats are great lil fellars to fish from i would like to see a better picture of the front deck is it a raised platform?? these boats with fairly stable become top heavy if you are planning on a flippin deck style set up..

best thing to do is go here.. these guys are old boat techs and know there stuff..

Thanks Zooker. The front deck is raised about 3". The raised part comes right out. It looks like it was built to level out the floor because the front seat was on a square plastic base instead of a pedestal. I've found some bench bass boat style seats that come 48" wide. That would be perfect for me and a buddy or my wife, daughter, and I to go for a ride. At least until my daughter gets too big. To save weight from raising the decks I'm thinking about using aluminum C channel for the base instead of treated 2x4's.
