Default Lake Fishing

does anybody have any specail tactics when fishing lakes? I am pretty new to the lake end of it, I have fished farm ponds and water sheds mostly my whole life.

Look for the same kind of areas on the bigger lakes that you catch fish from in the smaller ponds. If you catch a lot of bass say along a weedline where it just starts, then fish those same kinda of spots. Also in bigger lakes many times the bottom contours can be more important than in a little mudpuddle. So try to figure out where you have dorpoffs, channels, old roadbeds, anything where the bottom changes in depth of content(ie rocks to mud, to pebbles, to sand, to vegetation). These are transitions areas that many times will hold the fish, and be cognizant of the time of year and the "USUAL" pattern the bass may be on.

You can start just by targeting points, and then any secondary point, like entrance to a cove, or once in there any object that sticks out.
